Florida State House Closed to The People
but Opened to Lobbyists!
Call To Action:
You have heard it on the news and from Governor DeSantis himself…Florida is OPEN! But it’s not, at least not completely. The people’s house in Florida, our grand StateHouse, is CLOSED! So why isn’t our State House open? Why are we the people of Florida limited in our ability to attend committee meetings or hold office calls with the legislators about bills of interest?
Why must we complete forms to reserve a place in the committee rooms and speak in the public forums? Paid lobbyists attend meetings and have great influence over our legislators. But the average citizen is required to jump through hoops just to be heard for a couple minutes while wearing a mask. The best cases for or against legislation are fought in person, face-to-face, not via a phone call or computer screen, and not wearing a conforming and muffling mask.
ACTION:
Call, Write & Email, Governor Ron DeSantis, House Speaker Chris Sprowls and Senate President Wilton Simpson, along with your district legislators. Tell them Florida is to be fully open for business…no limitations or restrictions. We the people of Florida must have unfettered access to our elected employees. No registration or sign-up forms, no masks, no escorts, no passes…no limits, period! Get back to business!
